Driven by the vitality and strong growth of the Chinese market, CITROËN is unveiling the CITROËN C-XR Concept at the Beijing Motor Show. The new concept car is a contemporary take on the SUV, informed by CITROËN’s key values of strong design, outstanding comfort drawing on all the brand’s expertise, and technological choices focused on efficiency.

The CITROËN C-XR Concept previews the first SUV developed by the joint venture between CITROËN and the DONGFENG Motor Group, set to win new customers in a fast-growing segment in China, with sales of nearly three million units in 2013, up 50% on 2012.

STRONG AND ELEGANT DESIGN

The CITROËN C-XR Concept features instantly recognisable compact styling, with an assertive SUV look combining elegance and robustness. The elegant air is created through harmonious proportions and meticulous style lines, while the concept car’s robust character is underscored by its width and by functional and aesthetic attributes that forge its SUV identity.

The design of the CITROËN C-XR Concept stands out with:
  • A wide chrome-finished grille linking the chevrons to the headlamps to emphasise its temperament,
  • LED daytime running lights enhancing the front light signature for even stronger presence,
  • Front optics featuring a double module and indicators to underscore the car’s high-tech approach,
  • A C-shaped side signature providing a visual link between the roof bars and chrome-finished waistline, highlighting the roominess inside,
  • 3D-effect rear lights combined with a chrome-finished dual tailpipe lending extra vitality to the generous rear forms.
The concept car’s protective and robust SUV nature is underscored by specific design attributes:
  • Raised ground clearance and large, 17-inch wheels shod with All Seasons tyres to take on whatever the road has to offer with optimum comfort and safety,
  • Front and rear fairing and wheel arch embellishers blending style and body protection,
  • Red side décor and wing-mirror housings underlining the car’s dynamic qualities and outdoor spirit.
The CITROËN C-XR Concept also possesses elegant body styling characterised by:
  • An ideal length-to-height ratio (1.79 m x 1.56 m) for perfectly balanced proportions,
  • Body length limited to 4.26 m for more agile manoeuvring,
  • The longest wheelbase in the category, at 2.65 m providing exceptional roominess, particularly in the back seats.

COMFORT IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES: CITROËN KNOW-HOW

With its technological and sensory approach to comfort, the CITROËN C-XR Concept demonstrates all of CITROËN’s expertise in bringing drivers and passengers an incomparable feeling of safety and well-being.

CITROËN C-XR Concept drivers enjoy impressive visual comfort thanks to a natural, saloon-style driving position and raised ground clearance providing a commanding view of the road for complete peace of mind at the wheel.

Road comfort is ensured by the suspension settings that draw on all of CITROËN’s know-how to bring drivers a feeling of total control at the wheel while effortlessly absorbing all road imperfections.

All the occupants enjoy travelling comfort and well-being thanks to the car’s large wheelbase – the longest in the segment – providing outstanding spaciousness in the front and rear seats alike.

The CITROËN C-XR Concept is also strong on sensory comfort, with its large glass panoramic roof that floods the cabin with soft, filtered light.

TECHNOLOGICAL CHOICES FOR EXTRA EFFICIENCY

The CITROËN C-XR Concept is equipped with the highest-performance technologies to enhance traction while reducing the car’s environmental footprint.

The concept car is fit with Grip Control technology, which, combined with the All Seasons tyres, manages the grip of the wheels in line with the nature of the road surface. The result is optimal traction on all types of ground without resorting to a four-wheel-drive system that would increase fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The CITROËN C-XR Concept features cutting-edge technologies and special design approaches to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions:
  • The powertrain combines a THP 160 petrol engine equipped with the Stop&Start system and a latest-generation automatic gearbox, boosting driving pleasure and comfort while reducing fuel consumption,
  • The weight reduction that was a key focus in the design of the concept car, reflected in top-quality road manners for an SUV and a drastic cut in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

DS 6WR

At the Beijing Motor Show, DS is unveiling a new model that is both powerful and sophisticated, the DS 6WR. Directly inspired by the Wild Rubis concept car, this premium SUV clearly carries the DS genes. Unique, inspired and emotional, immediately recognisable and exceptionally sophisticated. A strong vehicle with real character, continuing the DS story in China. After the DS 5LS, this first brand SUV is the next stage in the development of DS in China and around the world.

Designed in Paris, the capital of luxury and fashion, the DS 6WR is a new take on DS: rebellious, untamed, yet pure and sophisticated. Its original body lines combine the powerful lines of an SUV with the sophisticated design cues of DS.

Powerful, elegant lines

Like the Wild Rubis concept car that heralded this new premium SUV, DS 6WR is a strong, spectacular vehicle whose flowing contours convey the homogeneity of its design.
This latest model from the DS brand is 4.55m long, 1.86m wide and 1.61m tall with an exceptionally long wheelbase of 2.73m. These generous dimensions convey power and strength and also give the car an inviting look. In this way, it meets the real needs of premium SUV buyers in terms of features and versatility. With the 19-inch wheels at each corner, it promises exceptional driving sensations.
The DS 6WR also features Grip Control. This technology optimises traction on all types of terrain without a four-wheel drive system and while limiting both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Further illustrating this model’s advanced technology, the e-THP 160 and THP 200 engines feature sequential direct injection with a high-pressure pump and Twin Scroll type turbocharger. They are mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Refined, sophisticated styling

With its original proportions and charismatic looks, the new DS 6WR is one of the most modern SUVs around. Wide and low, the unique body style expresses both strength and power without sacrificing a sense of sophistication, expressed in the sensual, voluptuous styling.

The elegant DS 6WR features a unique chrome-finish side signature. The aluminium bars accentuate an impression of height, underlining the dynamic looks of this new model, before plunging back into the sculpted lines of the rear wing.

DS 6WR sublimates the new front end identity inaugurated by the DS 5LS with “DS Wings”. This attractive, new grille of sculptural design  takes its name from the two chrome-finish wings connecting it to the headlamps. The taut arc formed by these lines gives the front end a dynamic, modern look. The specially designed grille also features the DS logo. It is further enhanced by a rich, incisive light signature with DRLs in a tuning-fork layout and Xenon technology.

At the rear, the lights appear to be built into the wraparound tailgate as part of a new layout. The glass of the rear light is set in chrome, like a jewel, further underlining the light signature and 3D design of the light functions. In pursuit of perfection, the DS initials are embossed on the side of the light with the DS emblem. The sculpted style of the wraparound tailgate is underlined at the base by a chrome finish with a twin exhaust.

A new vehicle at the heart of the DS offensive in China

This new model is the next step in the development of the DS brand in China. Following the DS5 in September 2013 and the DS 5LS launched at the end of March, the DS 6WR will be the third DS model to be built in China at the Shenzhen site. The DS 6WR will make its debut at the end of the year, in China in the first instance. And DS is not stopping there, since another locally built model will be unveiled in the coming months.

The development of DS is underpinned by an expanding network with 56 DS STORES in the city’s biggest cities.

DS 5LS R Concept

The DS 5LS R Concept Car: Performance through luxury and Technology.

At the Beijing Motor Show, DS will be presenting the DS 5LS R concept car, an all-new and unique version of the DS 5LS that showcases all the attributes of the production model, chief among them power and top-quality materials. Following on from the DS3 Cabrio Racing and DS4 Racing concept cars, the DS 5LS R highlights DS expertise though a blend of top-level performance and luxury fully in step with the DS spirit.

The DS 5LS R concept car, making its debut at the Beijing Motor Show, showcases the DS 5LS launched recently in China. The DS 5LS stands out with its powerful body styling, featuring the sculptural and prestigious “DS Wings” grille fit on new DS models. The DS 5LS R emphasises the athletic character of the DS 5LS, highlighting the voluptuous curves of the production model.

In a nod to the Brand’s WRC commitment with the DS3 Racing, the sportiness of the DS 5LS R is underpinned above all by a 1.6-litre turbo engine that develops 300 bhp and torque of 400 Nm. The chassis is 15 mm lower than the production model’s and the concept car boasts wider front tracks. It is equipped with a sequential gearbox controlled by steering-wheel paddles. High-precision development work also went in to the chassis, brakes and suspension, while the focus on performance is visually underscored by components including an air vent, a bumper panel and a lower body panel in real carbon.

Faithful to the DS spirit of innovation and the search for the finest materials, the DS 5LS R makes a spectacular first impression with its anodised carmine red paint with a matte and metallic finish that sublimates the concept car’s sporty body styling. Wide side strips in matte carbon grey on the front doors underline the concept car’s belonging to the “R” range of sports cars, alongside the DS3 Cabrio Racing. The “R” signature features above the grille, at the rear and on the side of the car.

A true concentrate of technology, the DS 5LS R is fit with real carbon components including the side signature that extends from the windows to the boot, cutting through the quarter panel with a subtly drawn shark fin. The DS Wings grille is in carbon grey. The athletic nature of the beast is emphasised by the 20-inch wheels, cut from the block, sculpturally designed and carbon-coloured to match the polished aluminium on the exterior and the touches of carmine red.

The focus inside the DS 5LS R is squarely on luxury, with exceptional materials. The cabin is fully lined with leather and alcantara, including on the dashboard and steering wheel. The DS identity is omnipresent, with a fresh, three-fabric take on the watchstrap upholstery combining aniline full-grain leather, DS-embossed leather and alcantara. The seats, dashboard, upper door panels and central armrest are finished with pearl top-stitching in carmine red using a technique that testifies to the expertise of DS, inspired by the finest in French luxury goods.

The idea of performance plays a central role in the DS 5LS R cabin, as seen in the chronometer on the central console and the steering wheel with its carmine red centre and “R” signature. And for an extra dose of athleticism, the interior includes real carbon touches, on the steering wheel, door panels and door handles, together with carmine red inserts in the air vents.
