Citroën At Le Bourget Show

CITROËN is returning to aeronautics with the presentation of two outstanding objects at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget from 20 to 26 June. The first is the CITROËN DS5, a true aerodynamic sculpture, and the second, the MC 500 airship, powered by a fuel cell. Faithful to its ‘Créative Technologie’ image, CITROËN is investing in the development of a new-generation airship, demonstrating convergences in image and value between the worlds of automobiles and future airships. The event is also an opportunity for the brand to showcase its technological expertise.

CITROËN created its own helicopter back in the 1970s, called ER 2. Today the brand is partnering the development of a new-generation airship with a fuel-cell motor supplied by the PSA Peugeot Citroën Group.

Another technological innovation on show at Le Bourget was the CITROËN DS5. The first CITROËN to feature Hybrid4 full-hybrid diesel technology, the DS5 is also a true aerodynamic sculpture with flowing yet taut styling. The new model expresses the finest in CITROËN expertise. The driving position is cockpit inspired, with buttons, thumb wheels and special toggles, to be handled with a pilot’s touch. The CITROËN DS5 also features a head-up display system that projects essential driving information in colour in the driver’s direct line of vision.

The Marque has already shown its aim to make journeys easier with the CITROËN Multicity offer. Partnering the presentation of the new-generation MC 500 at the Paris Air Show confirms that the brand wants to bring consumers tailored and innovative travel solutions that go beyond the simple provision of a vehicle.

Citroen Créative Tour

CITROËN launches “Créative Tour” to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Croisière Jaune
André Citroën launched the Croisière Jaune in 1931. A pioneering rally raid from Beirut to Beijing along routes that had never before been travelled by motorised vehicles, the expedition fascinated the world. Eight decades later, the brand has lost none of its daring spirit. To celebrate the anniversary of this extraordinary scientific, artistic and human adventure, CITROËN is launching a new cross-border event, “CITROËN Créative Tour”, an innovative road show drawing young and old into the world of “Créative Technologie” complete with parades of outstanding concept cars. The tour kicks off in Europe in Berlin from 17 to 19 June, followed by Paris from 24 to 26 June and Moscow in September. The celebrations will continue in China before the year’s end with more surprises.

A movable pavilion for an innovative road show

In 1931, faced with the crossing of the Himalayas and the danger of landslides, the valiant pioneers of the Croisière Jaune had to dismantle their half-track vehicles to get through the roughest terrain. Some 80 years later, the brand has once again chosen the same dismantle-and-reassemble principle for the CITROËN Créative Tour. This original road show will be stopping in Berlin at the BallonGarten park from 17 to 19 June, in Paris at the Invalides building from 24 to 26 June and in the centre of Moscow in the autumn, before moving on to China for more festivities.

Three “domes” for three distinct creative exhibition spaces

Comprising three linked-up domes, the pavilion used for the CITROËN Créative Tour illustrates all of the brand’s boldness and creativity:
  • “Innovation” dome: the largest space in the pavilion immediately transports the visitor to the world of CITROËN “Créative Technologie”. The vehicles are displayed alongside astonishing contemporary and interactive artistic creations. The sculptural bonnet of the CITROËN C4, finished in heat-sensitive paint, constitutes a work of art in its own right. The “Revolte” concept car is flanked by the DS line, namely the DS3, DS4 and DS5. This last model, revealed in Shanghai in April, will be the first CITROËN to feature full-hybrid technology, HYbrid4.
  • “Sensation” dome: this space, located at the centre of the pavilion, is dedicated to interactivity and digital leisure. Visitors can have a go at “Live Car Painting”, colouring in the roof of the CITROËN DS3 using a touch screen. Thrill seekers can get behind the wheel of the GTbyCITROËN concept car on the famous Gran Turismo 5 game, available on Sony PlayStation 3.
  • “Adventure” dome: the third space showcases the daring exploit of the 1931 Croisière Jaune. A half-track vehicle is on show, surrounded by the expedition equipment that was used at the time. Visitors also get to relive highlights of the adventure with a map of the expedition animated by films projected by a special robot!
Concept car parades in city centres

In each capital city destination, the CITROËN Créative Tour will feature parades of the brand’s emblematic concept cars three times a day. With models including Survolt, a 100% electric true-blooded racing car, and GT by CITROËN, a real-life version of the car designed by CITROËN for the Gran Turismo 5 video game, thrills are guaranteed! And for still more excitement, CITROËN is organising a competition via a dedicated mini-website (www.creativetour.citroen.com), with lucky winners getting an insider’s view of the event as a passenger in one of these exceptional cars!

Practical information:
  • Free admission
  • Berlin: BallonGarten park, Friday 17 to Sunday 19 June 2011, 10 am to 8 pm.
  • Paris: Cour du Dôme des Invalides, Friday 24 to Sunday 26 June 2011, 10 am to 7 pm.

Leader in car sales

CITROËN LEADS PRIVATE-CUSTOMER SALES IN MAY 2011

CITROËN was the leader in car sales to private customers in May with more than 13,000 units. The appeal of the Marque’s models enabled it to make a 14.4% increase in PC+LCV registrations in the month, compared to a 9.5% rise for the market. May was also marked by the launch of the DS4, the second opus in the distinctive DS line that has already sold in 2,700 units since the start of the year, of which 1,600 in May. To build on this momentum, CITROËN France continues to bring practical responses to customer needs. The focus in June will be on innovative offers ensuring that “the price of fuel is no longer a problem” for customers.

With the brand making a new step forward in its upgrade strategy in the shape of the DS4, CITROËN France is building on its momentum. Thanks to the success of its models, the Marque increased its share of the PC+LCV market on 2010, to 16.6% for the month of May (up from 15.9% in May 2010) and 15.6% year to date (up from 15.3% in 2010).

The top-selling models in the PC range are the CITROËN C3 and C4, which have achieved registrations of nearly 39,000 and over 23,000 respectively since the start of the year. With sales of 13,500 units, the C5 continues to lead its segment.

In the premium category, the CITROËN DS3 is proudly bearing the colours of the brand by leading its category with over 42,000 sales since launch in March 2010.
The CITROËN C-ZERO brings a practical response to customers looking for a 100% ecological model. CITROËN has registered more than 350 units since the start of the year, making it the leader in the electric passenger car market in France.

CITROËN France is pursuing its dynamic in June by broadening its offer to meet consumer needs. With the slogan “The price of fuel is no longer a problem”, the brand is providing a range of proposals highlighting its e-HDi micro-hybrid technology combined with a fuel offer. For the C4 Picasso e-HDi 110 Airdream, this means up to eight years of fuel for free.

In another area, music lovers looking for top-quality sound comfort will be overjoyed by the partnership between CITROËN and France’s classical music station Radio Classique. The two partners have joined forces to provide travelling comfort punctuated by great works of music thanks to a special equipment pack, “HiFi System by Radio Classique”. Available as an option on the Exclusive versions of the C4, C5 and C-Crosser and standard-fit on the C6 exclusive, the new pack is accompanied by a box set of 20 classical music CDs. Great news for music fans!

Citroen DS4 & C4 Design Award

THE CITROËN DS4 AND C4 WIN THE AUTO BILD 2011 DESIGN AWARD

After claiming the title of “Most Beautiful Car of the Year” at the International Automotive Festival, the Citroën DS4 has won the Auto Bild 2011 Design Award in its category. The prize was awarded by readers of German motoring magazine Auto Bild and its partner publications in Europe. The Citroën DS4 also took third place in the “Most Beautiful among the Beautiful” category, just behind the Mercedes Benz SLK and the BMW 6-Series.

Every year, Auto Bild organises a Design Award with its 26 European partners. Readers select their favourite models in five categories: city and compact cars, coupés and cabriolets, road cars and estates, 4WDs and MPVs, and concept cars. All votes are based on just one criterion. Appeal.

Among the 116 candidates, the Citroën DS4 won first prize in the City and Compact Cars category, with the Citroën C4 in second place. An impressive 1-2 that once more showcases the Marque’s innovation and creativity. The Citroën DS4 was also on the podium of the “Most Beautiful among the Beautiful”, just behind the Mercedes Benz SLK and BMW 6-Series. Showing that a bold approach is a powerful argument.

New DS3 Collection

CITROËN REVEALS NEW DS3 COLLECTION

Following styling interpretations from Yves Saint-Laurent, Kenzo and Orla Kiely, the CITROËN DS3 is now available in a new Hickory brown body colour and with adhesive roof decoration, designed by the Italian winner of the CITROËN Creative Awards. The Marque is also revealing ‘Grey Matter’, a limited edition DS3 produced in just 750 units.

One of the most attractive features of the CITROËN DS3 is its radical, seductive style, which becomes exclusive in a variety of personalized styles. For the summer season, the CITROËN DS3 is sporting new Hickory brown body paint in addition to the ten existing colours. CITROËN has also introduced a new decorative sticker theme, Flavio, 100% inspired by the winning roof of the CITROËN Creative Awards. The abstract, gold adhesive decoration is named after its designer. The brand has thus delivered on its promises by marketing the winning project from its first international design competition. The CITROËN DS3 is a decidedly individual and original automotive object.

For customers who aspire to something even more exclusive, the CITROËN DS3 is now available in a special limited series of 750 cars called ‘Grey Matter’. The special series model features a matte grey body with chrome detailing on the side mirrors, side strips and tail light casings. The roof comes in black or white, enhanced by a decorative kit and 17-inch diamond alloy wheels in the same colours. The interior features Mistral leather and a MyWay Select Comfort Pack, which includes automatic climate control, the MyWay navigation system and the HiFi system. Two petrol engines are available for an exclusive driving experience: the VTi 120 and the THP 150, priced at €23,400 and €24,950 ex-VAT respectively.

The CITROËN DS3 boasts an irresistible power of attraction and has already won a number of distinctions. The latest is “Women’s World Car of the Year”, voted in April by a panel of 14 female journalists and racing drivers from around the world. The criteria were safety, design, storage space, driving ease and environmental features – all decisive factors for women when they buy a car.
